Then the landfills you've been to need to fix? themselves... The ones I've gone to are pretty strict.

I have been to landfills. nobody is there to police what exactly you are putting in the trash pile, you can very easily just throw it all in together. Personally I am for electric cars, I fully plan to buy one... just here is a sad reality about americans. Another sad reality is, we have demonstrated to care? about the enviroment until it costs us money. Even Californians vote down green initiatives when it means tax payers money.

Two things: 1) If you went to a landfill, you'd notice that they make you separate batteries, buckets of paint and such from your regular trash. 2) Who's to say there won't be something instituted for making recycling batteries more convenient? Quite a business potential? there. Like you said, people are lazy, so either they do things right or pay extra to have their batteries picked up.

Your? thinking lead acid for the 1/2 ton weight. Lithium Ion are significanlty lighter when made right. This is whats making EVs actually practical.

So the person would learn there lesson and not tell them.? People are lazy, recycling batteries can be a pain to find the right place. So they just throw them in the trash for convenience.

I agree with takayafreeman, the batteries are recyclable. plus, the industry in, on, and around batteries and battery recycling will create jobs. also- look a the dirt, grease, and sludge around the internal combustion engine when it gets replaced, then compare the engine compartment of? the ZEV. about the price... price drops dramatically when demand goes up- this is basic idea behind capitalism. its called a supply/demand curve

If they're stupid enough to just put the old batteries into a trash can, sure. But Li-Ion batteries are typically recycled, so it's not getting "dumped." I don't think the landfill would even let you through if? you told them you were dumping Li-Ion batteries. They'd think you're retarded.

elctricity generation and production of the vehicle emits air and other polutions, but if we can minimize this to a very great extent, these niftly little things called plants and algae will do the hard? cleaning part for us. The only reason they aren't now is b/c we pollute too quickly for nature to keep up, thus it accumulates (especially with deforestation which also draws moisture from the air further speeding glacial melt). CO2 actually speeds plant growth, just not enough.

I know of a man, who's a welder, that has built a regeneration unit. I know for a fact it works, during a Catagory 5 torndado, In Charles County, MD, he ran a 500amp service to his home! Did you pay attention to how they spelled? "braking"? They spelled it "breaking". It was a a joke. It has lost it's meaning now that I had to explain it to you... way to go.

regenerative braking is just turning the motors into generators and? using the generator drag to slow the vehicle. Most hybrids have this.

OK clearly English is not your primary language but "breaking" and "braking" are 2 entirely different words. Breaking mean in the process of being broken? and braking means holding or slowing down. Its called "regenerative braking" not "regenerating breaking"

regenerating breaks ...
regenerating breaks means the car is breaking with electricity, simply put you change the magnetic? field within the motor so the motor is trying to rotate backwards (while moving forward) this stores you electricity back into your batteries, which is 60-80% enough for the next acceleration.

Hello awkpidgin have heard about lionevs battery packs? I am thinking about buying one of their phev pack for an all electric vehicle that will be a 144 volt system but the Kangoo pack is 136 volts could I supplement the? rest with lead acid?
